# Northern Ireland coast guide: dog rules and restrictions

Human-readable page: [Northern Ireland coast guide: dog rules and restrictions](https://dogfriendlybeach.uk/northern-ireland/popular-beaches/).
Content version: 2026-10-27. This is not a new check of every source.

10 editorially selected guides, not a measured popularity ranking. A guide can still have unresolved dog-access evidence.

A listed location, missing ban, photograph or visitor report does not establish dog permission. Use the linked council, landowner or official visitor source and current entrance signs.

Northern Ireland has separate council and landowner dog rules from the Republic. Causeway Coast summer exclusions cover signed sections all day, 1 June–15 September. Portstewart uses post 10 to separate lead and off-lead shore. Browns Bay’s adopted order includes public and bank holidays; complete holiday or boundary conditions needing confirmation remain explicit.
