## Dog access

Evidence status: **Published dog rule available; check its dates, zones and validity**.

These are published conditions, not a live answer for your visit. Use the date and time calculator on the human-readable page (Europe/London) and check current signs.

- **When:** All year.
- **Which part of the beach?:** Cogden Beach. Check entrance signs for the exact local boundaries.
- **Landowner lead guidance:** The Trust requests a short lead of no more than 2 metres, particularly when busy, and leads 1 March–31 July for nesting birds. Keep the lead on in fields with livestock. [Source](https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/dorset/hive-beach/visiting-hive-beach-with-your-dog); source checked 2026-10-27.

Additional published context: Rules are taken from the linked council, landowner or official visitor source. Follow the signs on site and keep dogs away from wildlife.

A listed location, missing ban, photograph or visitor report does not establish dog permission. Use the linked council, landowner or official visitor source and current entrance signs.

## Walking with your dog

- **Lead guidance from the landowner:** The Trust’s Hive and Cogden dog guide asks for short leads, with nesting-season leads 1 March–31 July. Its circular walk also requires leads near livestock. ## Parking, access and supporting details

- **Parking:** The Trust’s Cogden circular starts at Cogden car park, DT6 4RL, uphill from the beach. [National Trust — Cogden circular dog walk](https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/dorset/hive-beach/the-cogden-circular) (source checked 2026-10-27).
- Named arrival area: National Trust Cogden Car Park. This is separate from the beach map reference.
- **Access:** The circular includes moderate slopes and kissing gates and can become muddy in winter. The shingle itself is a different surface from the footpath. - Toilets, drinking water and refreshments have not been confirmed for this entrance.

These are published visitor details, without an on-site inspection. Unconfirmed facilities are not necessarily absent. Bring drinking water for your dog; a café listing does not confirm that dogs can go inside.

## Beach context

Cogden welcomes dogs all year. Follow the National Trust’s short-lead guidance, with extra care for livestock and nesting birds.
